The Last Job You’ll Ever Need

A fast and dirty game for executing a cinematic heist.

If you’ve ever idly stood in line at a bank, or worked a low-paying job at McDonalds, and wondered “How would I rob this place?” then this is your game. At its heart The Last Job You’ll Ever Need is simply about planning and executing an exciting robbery. You get to imagine any number of impossible challenges, and then how you might overcome them.

This game is about stealing expensive shit from undeserving people in competent and dramatic ways for personal gain. Once you have successfully obtained your target, things will probably go to hell. All the slips, compromises, and risks you took obtaining the target will return to you, like the proverbial boomerang. It’s very possible that not all characters will survive.

The Last Job You’ll Ever Need is a Table-Top Role-Playing Game (TTRPG) modelled on the Heist genre of movies. Each player uses a standard deck of playing cards to create characters, and determine their strengths and weaknesses. Then one person will draw additional cards to reveal the nature of the heist: what you’re attempting to steal, from whom, and where it’s located.

The main focus of this game is to wager on your own competency, balancing your wins against your losses as the situation escalate

Number of Participants: 3 to 5, plus a facilitator called “The House”

Time: 1 to 2 hours, but usually around an hour and a half.

Materials: Each participant needs a standard deck of 54 playing cards and a Playersheet for organizing their cards and statistics. You’ll also need a way to record how you organize the heist.
